What are the standard dimensions for a business folder?

Our most popular size is 9" x 12". This industry-standard layout is specifically engineered to hold flat 8.5" x 11" (letter-size) documents perfectly without wrinkling the edges.

Can you manufacture custom or non-traditional folder shapes?

Absolutely. We routinely manufacture tailor-made dimensions and unique layouts outside our standard offerings. Simply include your precise width and height specs when submitting your initial project quote.

How deep are the document pockets on your folders?

Our standard folder features 4-inch deep pockets. This dimension provides the optimal balance of keeping your paperwork secure while leaving enough of the documents visible for easy retrieval.

How much paperwork can a single folder comfortably hold?

A standard flat two-pocket folder accommodates about 30 sheets of copy paper in each pocket. If your project demands higher storage, please ask us about Capacity Folders.

Do you offer layout templates to help design the artwork?

Yes. We provide downloadable die-line templates that outline the exact fold lines, safe zones, and bleed areas. Designing within these templates ensures your logos and text line up perfectly during production.

What areas of the presentation folder can be printed on?

Every square inch of the paper stock is open for design. You can apply graphics to the exterior front and back covers, the interior backing panels, and the front faces of the pockets.

What is the difference between 4/0 and 4/4 setup options?

These numbers denote how many sides of the flat sheet receive ink. 4/0 (Single-Sided) means ink is applied only to the exterior covers and the pockets, while the main inside back wall remains unprinted white paper. 4/4 (Double-Sided) means full-color printing covers both sides of the sheet, so the entire interior background above the pockets is fully designed.

How much does a standard custom 9" x 12" folder cost per piece?

The price per folder drops quickly as your quantity goes up, because press setup, die-cutting and gluing setup are spread across more folders. For our top-selling 9" x 12" folder (4/0, 14pt gloss, 2 pockets and business card slits):

• 250 folders cost only $76 more than 100, and cut the price per folder by more than half, from $3.59 to $1.74.
• At 1,000 folders, the price is about $0.94 each, 74% less per folder than ordering 100.
• At 5,000 folders, the price is $0.66 each, 82% less per folder than ordering 100.

Can you match exact brand colors, like Pantone swatches?

Yes. While standard full-color printing uses the CMYK process, we also support Pantone Matching System (PMS) spot colors for an additional fee to guarantee your exact corporate brand identity is accurate. If you need a PMS color, please submit a Custom Quote Request.

What separates Spot UV coating from Flood UV coating?

Both utilize ultraviolet light to cure a glossy protective liquid, but the application differs. Spot UV applies the high-gloss shine only to targeted details (like a logo or pattern) to contrast beautifully against a matte background. Flood UV shields the entire sheet from edge to edge in a brilliant, ultra-shiny coating that enhances durability and color vibrancy. How do embossing and debossing differ?

These techniques use custom metal dies to change the physical texture of the paper. Embossing presses the paper upward from the back to create a raised, 3D effect on the cover. Debossing presses into the paper from the front, forming an indented or stamped design.

Are linen and textured folders two different things?

Linen is simply a popular subset of textured stock. Any folder featuring an organic, tactile pattern rather than a smooth finish is considered textured, with linen being our top-tier classic option. For more on linen, check out our Linen Folders product.

What exactly is a folder "spine"?

A spine is an engineered, double-creased ridge built into the center fold or the pocket seams. It mimics a book spine, giving the folder room to expand and hold thick inserts without buckling.

How many panels can be integrated into one folder?

Most clients choose two-panel or three-panel configurations. However, depending on your flat sheet size, we can manufacture multi-panel layouts. Speak with any of our Folder Experts at 866-936-5337 to check structural feasibility.

Do panel edges always have to be straight rectangles?

No. While rectangular panels are the default, our custom die-cutting machinery can slice borders into waves, geometric angles, or specialized tab shapes. Include these design notes in your quote inquiry.

Can I choose horizontal or vertical orientations for the pockets?

Yes, both styles are available. Keep in mind that vertical pockets may face layout restrictions on three-panel designs due to flat-sheet printing limits. We will help you select the safest layout for your artwork.

What is the maximum pocket count available per folder?

It depends directly on your panel choice. A traditional two-panel folder can support zero, one, or two pockets. A three-panel folder can scale up to three individual pockets.

What does the term "Gate-Fold" mean?

A gate-fold style features two outer panels that meet right in the center when closed. They fold open like double doors to reveal the main presentation material hidden on the inner middle panel.

Is it possible to put pockets onto a gate-fold layout?

Yes. We can fix custom pockets and card slots to gate-fold styles. They are usually placed flat against the central interior panel to hold inserts like brochures and spec sheets securely.

Do business card slits cost extra, and where do they go?

Horizontal Business Card Slits are included complimentary, or choose Vertical Business Card Slits for $50 additional. They are typically cut into either the left or right interior pocket, but can be omitted entirely if preferred.

What is your standard paper stock for folder production?

Our base standard is a premium 14pt C2S card stock or 100# Uncoated Cover. For clients wanting alternative weights, we can get extra-thick stocks, organic kraft paper, and high-end textured options. If you would like to use a custom paper, please submit a Custom Quote Request.

Can you explain what a Media & Press Kit folder is?

These are high-end promotional packages curated for product rollouts, events, or corporate announcements. We print the outer folder along with Stepped Inserts, Brochures, or Folders with Stitched Inserts. We also offer an optional white-glove service where we collate and fill the folders at our facility, shipping them to you completely ready for distribution.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom folders?

Because of the complex machine setup required for custom die-cutting and folding, our minimum order quantity starts at 100 units to keep the price-per-piece economical for your budget.

How do you handle order issues or quality discrepancies?

We stand completely behind our craftsmanship. If your order shows any manufacturing flaws, reach out to our team immediately. We review all client submissions and will prioritize reprinting, issuing credits, or executing a custom solution to fix the issue.

What is the standard production turnaround and delivery timeline?

Our standard manufacturing turnaround for our most popular 9" x 12" presentation folders is 5 business days. Shipping transit time is separate and begins once production is complete. Total delivery time depends on your chosen shipping option and destination.

Do you offer rush production options for tight deadlines?

Yes. We offer expedited rush printing tiers for our 9" x 12" folders, including 3-day, 2-day, 1-day, and Same-Day Rush Production.

What are the daily cut-off times for proof approvals?

Production scheduling relies entirely on when you approve your digital proof. Orders do not enter production until your final sign-off is received. Please note our strict daily cut-off windows:

• Same-Day Rush Orders: Your digital proof must be reviewed and officially approved by 10:00 AM PST. Because it takes up to 1 hour for our prepress team to generate and email your proof, we strongly advise placing your order early in the morning.
• Standard & Multi-Day Orders: Your digital proof must be officially approved by 5:00 PM PST to count as day zero. It can take up to 4 hours for our prepress team to generate and email standard proofs, so please plan your file upload accordingly.

Will I receive tracking information for my shipment?

Yes. As soon as your custom folders pass our quality inspection and transfer to the shipping carrier, an automated email containing your tracking number will be sent to your account email.
